Adapted from the 1730 edition of Metamorphosis insectorum surinamensium (first published 1705) by German entomologist Maria Sibylla Merian. Merian was a pioneer of insect study, and her artworks are believed to be the first which depict insects together with the plants that they feed on. Royal Entomological Society library.
